Apostle Saughanto Austin, Pastor, and Prophetess Queen Austin assistant to the leader.
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Romans 10: 13 – 14. KJV).
We at MINISTRY OF SPIRIT AND TRUTH are the true worshippers who worship the Father in spirit and truth. We dedicate ourselves to understanding only the truth rather than catering to traditions. Here, we do not worship by man’s traditional programs but are truly led by the Holy Spirit. We have been ordained by God to knock down the walls of tradition, man’s religion, and untruths established by a hierarchical society. Our desire is to become the church that God intended.
Our mission is not only to feed the poor, but also to teach the poor, not only to educate the ignorant, but also to enlighten the educated, not only to help recover the lost, but also to keep the found, not only to harbor church members, but also to develop ministers. May God bless you, in Jesus’ name.
Apostle Saughanto Austin, Pastor
CHURCH PURPOSE
The Ministry should help its constituents evaluate the community culture from a Christian perspective and contribute to developing constructive and Christian community influences. The community is a valid arena for the concern and action of the Christian Ministry.
The Ministry teaches. The Ministry exercises its teaching responsibility in three ways.
First, the Ministry leads through the quality of its corporate life; the love members express for one another; the demonstration and concern by church members and groups for those outside the church fellowship; and the values it considers crucial, exemplified by its programmed activities and budget.
Second, the Ministry teaches through the Ministry of its members as they live in the world. As nonchurch members hear church members witnessing their faith and observing Christian living characteristics, they are learning something about the church and hopefully something about the Gospel.
Third, the church teaches through a program of planned activities - classes, encounter groups, workshops, camps, conferences, and more, by which it endeavors to achieve its objectives.
CHURCH HISTORY
In September 1999, a young man received a vision from God. It was a vision of a church with Jesus as the cornerstone, controlled by the Holy Ghost and not the traditions of men.
This church would be unified, with no radical or denominational barriers. God showed him a church of warriors that would tear down the enemy's strongholds and bring God's Spirit back to Tampa. Although God had been dealing with Minister Saughanto Austin for quite some time, Saughanto remained subjective to his leader, Pastor Roosevelt Hardy, until he was released to do what God had commissioned of him.
While serving as the Young Adult Minister and Intercessory Minister at St. Luke AME, Minister Saughanto Austin received confirmation from Pastor Hardy that the Young Adult Ministry would be the training grounds for the ministry conceived within Minister Austin even then. Minister Austin felt the urgency within him all the more, yet he served well and even endured some hardships, but when the time came for him to move, it was evident that the favor of God was upon him.
What began as a vision became a progressing work. A bold and anointed Pastor, Austin started this ministry with Queen Austin (wife) in their home in March 0f 2001. Pastor Austin, Queen Austin, and seven faithful soldiers began the first official church service of Ministry of Spirit and Truth (now Ministry of Spirit and Truth International) (MOSAT), on Sunday, April 1, 2001, at the Holiday Inn at 2701 E. Fowler Avenue.
Two of the original members were Rubye Hicks and Natishia Perry. The Ministry of Spirit and Truth was blessed to move into another location at 12016 Nebraska Avenue on December 23, 2001. MOSAT started having services at the first building we purchased on November 1, 2003, at 1417 Holland Avenue.
MOSAT church currently oversees seven Ministries in Guyana, South America, one in Orealla, South America, two in the Philippines, one in Kenya, Africa; and two in Tampa, FL.
Since its beginning, the Ministry of Spirit and Truth has reached out to various communities in Tampa by feeding the hungry, giving clothes to the poor, finding jobs for the unemployed, mending broken families, preaching salvation through Jesus Christ to the sinners, and liberty to the bound and proclaiming Holiness as a way of living by the Spirit of God.
From humble beginnings, we can honestly say that God has blessed us in a mighty way! And we know that there are even more incredible blessings in store. As God continues to bless us, He will enable us to be a blessing to all that share with us in worship and ministry.
